MEN’S MINISTRY
The men’s ministry at Lakes exists to equip men of all ages to be spiritual leaders in their homes, church, workplaces, communities, and around the world. We seek to accomplish this goal through:
- Deepening our relationship with Jesus Christ through Bible studies and leadership training;
- Building and strengthening relationships with one another through mentoring and accountability; and
- Living out and sharing our faith through service opportunities.
Bible Studies
Our men meet on a weekly basis in offsite discipleship groups. Often over a cup of coffee, these groups are designed to build fellowship, encourage and help with accountability. No matter what your availability or work schedule, there is a fellowship group for you!
Service Opportunities
We read in James 1:27 “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction…” As a church, one of the foremost ways we look after those in need is through our men’s ministry. Our men are willing to go and help in areas of maintenance and yard work which is fundamental to our understanding of Scripture. In addition to the various opportunities that arise to help those in need, there are also times and teams of men that look after the needs of the church building and property.
There are also opportunities to lead and mentor our young men, sometimes as a male influence and others just to help in seeing them grow into Christlikeness. This can be done through VBS, Crosswatcher’s, the Lego Race, or simply taking a boy out for ice cream. What an opportunity God has given us to impact the next generation!
Events
Our men have a number of scheduled events throughout the year that serve as a time of fellowship and encouragement. Golf tournaments, softball teams, group breakfasts, euchre tournaments and the shooting range are some of the activities that will mark the calendar each year. The best way to find out what is coming up next is to check the church calendar and plan to take part.
If you have any questions about how to get involved or how to take the next step, please feel free to contact Pastor Darryl Gross.
