Day day one is in the books. The early afternoon storms broke apart right before they hit the neighborhoods we are working in. The late night storms hit after we were already safely nestled away in our beds.
We arrived at 1st Spanish on Monday morning and went right to the canvassing. We canvassed 4 of the 5 neighborhoods that we are serving in. 3 of our homes are in SW Detroit, 1 in West Detroit, and one in East Dearborn. Due to it being the month of Ramadan, we chose not to canvass the Muslim neighborhood in East Dearborn just to allow the church member to build better relationships with their neighbors. We experienced the great Mexican cuisine at Mi Pueblo for lunch (above picture) and did a few work and cleanup projects around 1st Spanish in the afternoon. The teens are working hard and had great attitudes at the Bible clubs in the evening. We had around 50 kids total in the 5 homes which is very promising for the first night. Our teens do a good job of encouraging kids to bring friends.
It’s good to see our team connect with each other and grew as a group. Pray for them that they continue to have rest and have energy to pour into the kids. Also please pray for our morning sessions as we look to more deeply understand the gospel and seek to make it truly the thing of “first importance” to pass on to others.
