Here at Lakes, Sunday School is part of our foundational ministry from the children through adults. The purpose of our Sunday School is expressed in the words of Paul to the Colossian believers. “We proclaim Christ, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ” (Colossians 1:28).
Classes meet during both the 9:00 service hour and the 10:45 service hour. Adults are given the opportunity in our adult elective program to choose from studies about books of the Bible, topical studies with doctrinal or theological focuses, or marriage and family classes which focus on encouraging parents in their relationship with one another and with their children.

Marriage Builders – 9am
Godly homes are built by knowing God’s blueprints for marriage and putting them into action. Phil Wilson teaches the HomeBuilders Couples Series which can help you build a godly family and develop your lifelong friendship. Each HomeBuilders project includes a brief exercise for the couple to begin their “dates” in a fun way, questions for husbands and wives and opportunities for couples to make application in their lives. This class meets in the library.
Ambassador Class – 9am
“We are therefore Ambassadors as though God were making his appeal through us” (2 Corinthians 5:20).
The Ambassador Class is taught by Roger Cox and is designed for those who enjoy an expository or explanatory (verse by verse) approach to exploring the Bible.
The class meets in the first floor choir room and has just begun a study in 2 Corinthians. 2 Corinthians is all about relationships—not perfect ones, but real ones. In this letter the apostle Paul reveals that he is struggling deeply in his relationship with the believers in Corinth. Though he founded this church, they have apparently rejected him. This letter is an attempt at reconciliation. Here Paul lets us see inside a first-century Christian, the apostle himself. Through his large heart we see into the heart of God and the heart of the Christian message.
TNT Class – 9am
Mike Zielinski meets with the college aged “Teens and Twenties” in the “Ministry House” next door. This class is designed to give our young adults an opportunity to engage and discuss the Bible and learn how to use the Bible to discover answers. They encourage open conversation and discussion throughout the class. The group is currently looking at the life of Joseph. The goal for this series is to go beyond the “story” and study Joseph’s life (Genesis 37-50) which points to Christ using the lens of the Gospel.
Young Couples – 9am
Brandon Gross heads up the Young Couples class that allows for fellowship and small group study. The format helps young families connect and be an encouragement to one another as well as dig into the Bible for answers that impact each of us. The current topic is Parenting – Modeling Christ in a Modern World. This class meets in the lower level teen room.
Explore the Bible – 10:45am
Beginning in 2015, we’re offering a book-by-book Bible study that will eventually cover all 66 books of the Bible. This quarter Stewart MacLean will lead interactive discussion through the Minor Prophets. The study will meet in the Choir room with the challenge to read, study, then live out the truths that are discovered.
Women’s Bible Study – 10:45am
Rachel Frantz teaches the women’s class in the first classroom on the main level at 10:45. This class will be exploring the book of Hebrews within its historical context. A special emphasis will be placed on the Hugeness of Christ and His Superiority.
