Here at Lakes, Sunday School is part of our foundational ministry from the children through adults. The purpose of our Sunday School is expressed in the words of Paul to the Colossian believers. “We proclaim Christ, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ” (Colossians 1:28).
Classes meet during both the 9:00 service hour and the 10:45 service hour. Adults are given the opportunity in our adult elective program to choose from studies about books of the Bible, topical studies with doctrinal or theological focuses, or marriage and family classes which focus on encouraging parents in their relationship with one another and with their children.
For further information regarding our Sunday School, please contact Pastor Darryl Gross.
Ambassador Class – 9am
The Ambassador Class is taught by Roger Cox. The class is beginning a new series, An Overview of Eschatology/Last Things: BRINGING THE FUTURE INTO FOCUS. God, the architect of the ages, has seen fit to take us into His confidence concerning His plan for the future and has revealed His purpose and program in detail in the Bible. The class meets in the Superior room at 9:00am.
College & Career – 9am
Mike Zielinski meets with the college aged “Teens and Twenties” in the “Ministry House” next door. This class is designed to give our young adults an opportunity to engage and discuss the Bible and learn how to use the Bible to discover answers. They encourage open conversation and discussion throughout the class. The group is currently walking through the Gospel of John. Come discover the deity of Jesus revealed by John’s gospel.
Family Class – 9am
Brandon Gross and Phil Wilson lead the Family Class that allows for fellowship and a small group study. The format helps families connect, be an encouragement to one another as well as dig into the Bible for answers that impact each of us. Our culture is always shifting. Society tells us who we should be as men and women, but its message keeps changing. The class is currently doing a book study A Beautiful Design: Biblical Manhood/Womanhood. If this class is for you, join them in the Youth Room each week at 9:00am.
Tom Nestor, one of our Elders, will be leading the membership class for all who would like to pursue Church membership or simply find out more about Lakes as a church. We realize that you may already be involved in an Adult Class but hopefully, these class sessions will also serve to better connect you with others. The class meets in the Michigan room at 9:00am.
Explore the Bible – 10:45am
Explore the Bible is a book-by-book Bible study that will eventually cover all 66 books of the Bible. This quarter Jim Haglund is leading an interactive discussion through the Book of Acts. The study meets at 10:45am in the Superior room with the challenge to read the text, study and then live out the truths that are discovered.
Hard to Believe – 10:45am
Frank Natchman leads a study and discussion of John MacArthur’s book which challenges us to look at scripture for a true understanding of the requirements for “real” faith; how we are instructed to pick up our crosses and to deny ourselves if we are truly children of Jesus Christ. “The world is filled with millions of people who think they are headed for heaven – but they are deadly wrong”. The class will meet in the Michigan room at 10:45am.
Women’s Bible Study – 10:45am
Rachel Frantz teaches the women’s class in the Huron Room on the main level at 10:45. This class will be exploring the book of Hebrews within its historical context. A special emphasis will be placed on the Hugeness of Christ and His Superiority.
